ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Factoring Project is a three-year activity initiated in October 2017, with the overarching goal to improve the competitiveness of Macedonian SMEs by expanding their market opportunities through access to alternative financial services. The Project supports SMEs by informing them about access to alternative financial options. Factoring supports the growth of companies by providing them with quick access to finance and accelerating the flow of cash they need to grow more efficiently.
PROJECT COMPONENTS
The Factoring Project provides technical assistance and implements a range of activities across three main components.
- Raising awareness and knowledge of SMEs about alternative financing opportunities.
- Improving the legal and regulatory environment for factoring;
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Conduct a series of roundtables, workshops, and informative events.
- Inform and initiate dialogue with a cross-section of stakeholders, including representatives from business and financial associations, legal and regulatory authorities, business development organizations and the media.
- Identify bottlenecks and shortcomings in the legal and regulatory environment that may impact the effective use of factoring by SMEs.;
- Propose recommendations to address legal barriers and circulate them through association networks.
- Conduct targeted trainings for SMEs to improve their understanding of factoring as a financial tool that can generate immediate and affordable liquidity and increase companies’ sales and revenues.
PROJECT STAKEHOLDERS
The Factoring Project works closely with businesses, professional and financial associations from targeted industries, including legal and regulatory authorities, business development organizations, and media associations. The Project coordinates its activities with USAID and Faktor Trust. Additionally, the Project will collaborate with other USAID economic growth activities, including the USAID’s Business Ecosystem Project, the Microfinance Inclusion and Innovation Project.
